The Velotric Nomad 1 is a remarkable fat-tire electric bicycle from a relatively new but experienced company. Even without pedal assist, it offers a natural and enjoyable ride, thanks to its well-designed geometry. Velotric’s team, comprising engineers and designers from renowned bike brands, has created a fantastic product.
The Nomad 1 boasts hydraulic suspension, 26-inch by 4-inch CST BFT knobby fat tires, and comes in seven appealing colors. It features two-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm brake discs and an IPX6 water resistance rating, making it suitable for various riding conditions. The 48V 14.4 Ah battery uses LG or Samsung cells and is UL certified.
However, some drawbacks include the rear light not being integrated, the pedal assist level dictating throttle speed, and the front light’s brightness. The plastic fenders and the 20mph top speed might not suit everyone’s preferences. Additionally, the grayscale display could be improved.
In the future, Velotric plans to integrate a tail light into the rear fender and provide a cover for the protruding axle bolt. Despite these minor issues, the Velotric Nomad 1 impresses with its quality, aesthetics, and budget-friendly price. It’s a versatile all-weather e-bike that stands out in its class.
